"Strayers Know The Face Of Evil..."

The Strayer series has a unique set of evil characters (even by Road Rover standards) Here are some of them:

Baddies

Grendle (appears courtesy of Talon Saurn):
Concept drawing by Talon Saurn)
Concept drawing by Katalin Bakonyi)
Background:
Grendle's parents we're Mundane Black Panthers (weighting 200 pounds) They were captured by poachers and imprisoned in a compound high in the Rocky Mountains and forced to breed (cubs are worth more and easier to transport) The result was Grendle and Shadow. Soon after, the poachers killed their parents (they had out lived their usefulness) and began to fatten the survivors up for travel. But unknown to the cats or the humans, the cubs were caged in an old toxic waste container which had strange effects on them as time went on. Just before they were to be transported and sold the cats mutated into higher beings. On the outside they looked like normal panther cubs, but they become more intelligent than humans and able to speak. Once this happened, Grendle staged a break out. As a diversion he used his claws to sliced open his own brother's throat, severing his vocal cords. Unable to speak, Grendle cried in pain to luring the guards into their cage. As they tended to the injured Shadow, his brother slipped out of the cage. But once he left the exposure of the toxic waste he mutated once more into a full grown Panther. Seeing that Shadow would bleed to death shortly (there was no way to stop the bleeding), the guards left him to die. But as they exited the cage Grendle killed them both, along with all the other humans in the compound. He then left leaving his brother to die (he was useless to him), but Shadow would live (see Shadow) He set out and began murdering humans for revenge of his parents death thus having on and off engagements with the "Strayers"
Physical Traits:
Looks like an ordinary Black Panther. He can also talk.
Mental Traits:
Like all leopards he has a taste for dog flesh and finds the combination of Cano-Sapiens delectable as well as Cano-Mutants. The only emotions he can show are negative.
If this character interests you you may want to check out thoughts and ideas from Grendle's creator (Talon Saurn) at his site.

Shadow (appears courtesy of Talon Saurn):
Concept drawing by Talon Saurn
Concept drawing by Katalin Bakonyi
Background:
After his brother abandoned him in the poacher's compound (see Grendle), Shadow dragged his dying body from the cage. And, like his brother, was instantly mutated into a full sized panther. The mutation healed his wounds and saved his life but did not repair his severed vocal cords. He too left the compound and went on a rampage against mankind for the murder of his parents. "Strayers" and "Road Rovers" were dispatched to stop him, but they were taken out just as easily (Shadow is virtually undetectable, he can hide anywhere or get into anywhere without being seen - No one living has ever seen him but Bear) But his evil rampaged ended when he ran across Bear. The cat easily bested the Cano-Sapien, yet he sensed something in him. Something different. Shadow fled instead and let Bear live. Afterwards, he began to spy on Bear and his group of "Strayers" (always in the shadows) He quickly learned that Bear isn't really a human nor a canine. Plus he shares the same plight as himself: Never able to see his family again. With his interest peaked, Shadow forms a secret alliance with Bear: He will end his attack on humans and canines (but continues to feast on wild animals) and spy for the Strayer as long as Bear keeps Shadow's existence a secret (One Cano-Sapien is no match of Shadow, but a whole group of them could defeat him) The cat enjoys watching the exploits of Bear's team from the safety of the shadows. When Shadow collects special information he will contact Bear using an ultra high frequency pulse from his electronic voice box to signal Bear for a meeting. The Cano-Sapien will find the meeting place by following a trail of synthetic paw prints which can only be seen by Bear's special gun glasses. Once he reaches the meeting place, Bear will always call out: "Shadow. Are you there?" His electronic voice will always respond with: "Suspect the darkness for I am always there."
Physical Traits:
Looks like an ordinary Black Panther (weighting 200 pounds) He can also talk using a special electronic device strapped to his neck. A surprisingly agile beast.
Mental Traits:
The Panther will trust no one. The only reason that he tolerates Bear is because he gives Shadow entertainment, though the life and death adventures of he and his "Strayers" (Shadow remains out of site and unwilling to help) He has no emotions, they were ripped out of him when his own brother ripped out his vocal cords. He gets great amusement from taunting and matching quips with Bear.

General Parvo (originally from "Road Rovers"):
Background:
The origins of General Parvo, this evil cyborg, are unclear (even after watching the Road Rover episode "Reigning Cats and Dogs") What is clear is that he only wants one thing out in life: Total control of the world. He hopes to achieve this through his army of Cano-Mutants. Though he first appeared on "Road Rovers", Parvo has been on many episodes of "Strayers" On his first mission, Bear confronted Parvo as he tried to turn the entire town of canines into his slaves. Bear and the "Strayers" were able to defeat Parvo (just barely) and at long last placed him where he belonged: Behind bars (This happened in "You Can Teach An Old Dog New Tricks But You Can't Make Him Perform") Unfortunately, he didn't stay there too long. He busted out and exacted his revenge by brain washing all the Rovers, most of the "Strayers" and even some Baddies from both series into thinking they were characters from Robin hood. There he controlled and played with them like puppets. Of course, in the end, the "Strayers" and Rovers defeat Parvo and sent him back to jail. (Seen in "Hunterhood") Yet, he has escaped several times after that but always recaptured by the "Strayers" or Rovers.
Physical Traits:
He is a large cyborg but also part feline. His right forearm and bottom part of his left leg are mechanical. He has a long slender mustache that hangs down and thick eyebrows. He wears brown pants and a dark sleeveless T-shirt. On his head is a metal helmet in the design for bicycling.
Mental Traits:
Very egotistic and sure of himself. But when things don't go his way, watch out.

Ross Dole:
Background:
Ross Dole was a business man who uses Blackmail to force others to do his bidding. His goal in life was to become president. That way he would have access to the secrets the CIA, FBI and other organizations have learned of others. In essences, he could rule the world. Thankfully, Bear and the Rovers were able to take Ross down before he could complete his evil plan. They destroyed Ross's stash of secrets thus freeing everyone from his evil clutches. (Which can be seen in "You Can Teach An Old Dog New Tricks But You Can't Make Him Perform") He has returned several times to annoy the "Strayers" but every time he has been defeated.
Physical Traits:
A middle aged African American male who usually can be seen in a business suit. He has green eyes and is 5'6" tall. He has short black hair which is graying on the sides.
Mental Traits:
His strength lays in that he always is thinking and observing, looking for a way to control the situation and everyone in it. He can never rest or relax.

Eliminator:
Background:
Her real name is Candice Waken. She's only good at one thing: Assassinations. But she does it so well. People all around the world have hired her to off their enemies. She has known to have killed nine people for money, but there are probably many others that have never been reported or could not be connected to her. She in lists aid from her army of mercenaries of English decention. She has never missed a target... That is until she came across the "Road Rovers". They foiled her hit on the British Prime Minister and locked her away. But before they did she managed to poison Hunter. Fortunately, the poison does not affect Cano-Sapiens. Unfortunately, it affected Muzzle, Shag (he's more dog than sapien) and the Master. But in the end Bear tricked the Eliminator into revealing the location of the antidote and everyone was saved (This happened in "Times, Time and Half a Time") Later, she would team up with other baddie who would break her out and try to help her destroy the "Strayers" and Rovers, none ever succeeded.
Physical Traits:
The Eliminator is a short slender female human who is usually wears a holster with a gun and is dress in fatigues.
Mental Traits:
She is a very cold and unfeeling human. She will use anyone for her means but never trusts them. She is very military and throughout.

Matthew Slyness:
Concept drawing by Gerhard Naude
Background:
Or commonly referred to as The Admiral. He had a run in with Bear back when he was human... Or, it was more like a partnership. With his help Matt used Bear's native burial grounds for disposing the nuclear waste from his Militant army The Admiral was going to use to over throw the United States. Because of him, no one is able to return to that area for the next 12,394 years. They had to move the whole town. But after Bear became a Cano he and his "Strayers" shut down Matt's operation. He was court-martialed for misappropriating military funds and equipment along with the obvious, trying to overthrow the government. But he managed to slip out of the army's grasp and disappeared. He lost all his assets and his flamboyant lifestyle. With funds being tight, Matt tried the Parvo approach. With the help of a chemical Mutator, he started turning ordinary Wolves into Mutants (by this chemical is how Bear became Rabid) Once again Bear and The Admiral's paths crossed, in the wilderness of Idaho. There he planned pouring vast quantities of the Mutator into a river, every wolf that touch it would be transformed into a mutant. But more than that, they would all be genetically under his command. Two important players would be Herod and Herodias, his Lieutenants of his new wolf army. He and his wolf Mutants could easily take over the country in weeks. Bear, the "Strayers" and the Rovers were able to foil his plans and bring The Admiral to justice, but at a terrible cost. In the battle Bear was transformed into Rabid, one of Matt's Wolf Mutants. But in the end they were able to break Radid's loyalty to The Admiral (Seen in "Severed Blood") Later, to exact his revenge, the Admiral was busted out of jail. He then capture Nitro's entire pack, including her sister. It was a trap to lure both Bear and Nitro. It worked, and worse yet it was at a point when Bear was back to his human form. But thanks to some quick thinking and the Admiral's over confidence, Bear managed to turn the tables. With some help from the pack the Admiral was recaptured (as recorded in "Wedding Bell Blues")

Zukolan:

Ecosystem:
Concept drawing (Front) by Bear
Concept drawing (Back) by Bear
Concept drawing (Side) by Bear
Background:
First appeared in final "Final Resting Place" as she was preparing to make an army of killer robots bent on taking over the world. When she first started out she only wanted to change the world so animals would be safe from man, they had destroyed her town and killed her parents mining for minerals. But as she became more powerful all she wanted was world domination. Other than robot construction her other hobby turned out to be cloning, she could use her clones to infiltrate the Rover, Strayer and other government organizations and learn their secrets. Fortunately, The Strayers were able to stop her. Unfortunately, she died in the end (leaped to her own death rather than being captured) As it turned out she was one of her clones, the original Ecosystem was alive and well somewhere to fight another day. The heroes would run across more of her clones (defeating them all) until they came face to face with the original (real) one. She turned out to be more wicked than all her clones put together. But her clones would be her undoing. When she tried to make a clone of Bear (unknown to her the Bear she captured was already a clone) the system backfired (you can't make a clone of a clone). He then freaked out and killed Ecosystem (and then himself). Freeing the world of a great evil.

Mental Traits:
Short temper and has a tendency to justify all her actions, big or small.

Impetus:
Background:
First appeared in final "Final Resting Place" as the Rover operative and Jungle guide but would latter try and lead the grizzlies into a trap. It turned out that she was a spy for Ecosystem. In a fight to the death Nitro bested her, as Impetus tried to escape she was mistaken as an enemy by one of Ecosystem's Sendroids. Captain Shadow:
Concept drawing by P. Rinaldi
Concept drawing by Foxczer (colored by Foxphoenix)
Background:
Coming the distant future of the 2420's, Captain Shadow is an Ex-Space Rover turned Strayer. But, long before that he started out as a Human Eskimo, from the Kiana Tribe. He was the son of the Tribe's Chief and Chieftess and raised to understand the responsibilities and nature of his four thousand year old royal blood line. At the age of 23 he was kidnapped by General Parvo to be one of the first Human-to-Cano-Mutant experiments but with an untested Mutator, he was changed into a Cano-Sapien instead. He was saved by the Road Rovers and soon after joined them mainly because he could never return home or to his human life, that's when he changed his name to Shadow. During his time as a Road Rover he learned the art of magic, and somehow was cursed with immortality. As the centuries passed he transferred from the Road Rovers to the Space Rovers (where he earned the rank of Captain, and which he is still referred to as by his friends from the future). During his years as a Space Rover he fell in love and eventually married, having a single child with his new wife. Shortly after his son's first birthday both his wife and son were killed in a military strike, which hardened Shadow's heart and drove him mad with grief. He eventually transferred again, this time to the Strayers, just before being transported back in time as a `Time-Commando' to end a catastrophe in the future before it happens. He is a master of the Martial Arts as well as a master at Sword Fighting, honing his skills to be a perfect warrior, though as a good or evil warrior is dependant upon your own personal views.
Physical Traits:
Standing 6'2" he's slightly taller than most people. His breed is a Collie, with unbroken black fur along his entire body. He has shoulder length silver hair tied back into a ponytail and a diagonal line of white fur across his left eye like a scar. His eyes are an emerald green, and because of his magical powers they appear to glimmer and glow with light. He is almost always wearing an Armored Leather-like Black Suit and Full Helmet, which is a very high-tech combat armor; able to monitor his health, maintain contact with his allies, access nearly any type of information, and augment his abilities. Besides the Magic he has learned, his `super power' is the ability to become completely invisible when standing in a shadowed area. The main drawback to his invisibility is he can only become transparent when in direct light, and generally the brighter the light the less he is able to become transparent.
Mental Traits:
Captain Shadow has a cold heart, not caring who lives or dies, as long as his mission is completed successfully, which is his only remaining driving force, the completion of his mission so he can take the next. Calculating and intelligent, he can observe any situation and find a way to succeed. If one path does not work he will find another, or make another, until that objective is complete. He lives by a code of honor, stemming from his royal lineage, which he will never break. Any pact he makes will never be broken by him, unless the other party has dishonored him, at which point he makes a vendetta against the other party and proceeds to hunt them to the man. He always prefers to fight his opponents honorably in single combat, whether hand-to-hand or with melee weapons (upon which he will use his personal sword) but is just as capable fighting against - or with - a team. He can take orders from others as easily as he can give them, but commonly is most comfortable in command.

Sayonaria:
Background:
She was breed to be a fighter, a Mistress at Martial Arts. She was suppose to fight for Malka, a good and wise Chinese Martial Arts master. He was going to surround her with love, kindness and justice. She would be a brought up as the new hero in an evil world, sworn to fight for good. But shortly after she was born (since she had Cano-Mutant parents she did not have to go through the Cano-Mutator) she was dognapped by Parvo's Ninjas. He personally supervised her upbringing but instead of surrounding her with good he surrounded her with evil. She was fed well, given the highest of educations and loved (Parvo had to hire people for that) But most of all only the great masters and mistress' of the dark side of Martial Arts trained her. Since they started her so young she ended up as a level 27 black belt and taught by 57 masters and mistresses. She is so skilled she can punch a dent in steel with her bare hands uninjured. All the while Parvo kept telling her how evil the Rovers and Strayers were, how they wanted to destroy the world and it was he who was on the side of good trying to stop them. Since this is all she was taught she believes this with all her heart. Fighting for Parvo meant fighting for good, or at least that is what she thinks. She was first seen in "You Can Teach an Old Dog New Tricks But You Can't Make Him Perform" when she battled Daniel to the death on the back of Sylvia. He was outmatched and only won by his wit (forced her to fall off the back of Sylvia) She has killed 62 of Parvo's enemies. In a battle with Puffball on a train under London she was killed when she ran into a pillar.
Physical Traits:
She is a Shiba Inu Cano-Mutant. She is 5'1", small but very fit and in shape and has purple eyes. She wears a Ninja costume of a robe, pants and shoes all made of dark gray cloth. Also a dark red belt and headband. Just like the Ninja dogs wore in "Let Sleeping Dogs Lie" minus the mask. Because of her training her attack are lightening fast.

He was still alive but with only one eye is could fight no more, his owner left him for dead. Later he hosted a traveling circus called Darke Ages theme. Here he would pit two combatants against one another but the fighters were real. One would have to die for the other to win. Strayer, Rovers and Mutant are captured and forced to fight each other. People pay big bucks to get in to watch. Because of the highly illegal nature his shows are only at night and when there is no moon. The first fight he arranged was with his old owner, in which he died. The Grizzlies infiltrated his organization and shut him down (See "Parting Is Such Sweet Sorrow.") Gleeson:
Background:
Started out as a Strayer, wanted to be a leader of his own unit most of all. But he could never beat Bear's The Grid (there was no way to win, it tested how you took losing) So he left defeated. He realized that the baddies would eventually win. He thought it would be better to destroy the world than live under Baddie rule. That is why he created Armageddon Assistance, they want to speed up the end of the world. The Grizzlies discovered that an asteroid was heading for Earth. The government created a laser to destroy it. Gleeson planned on destroying this laser thus destroying the world. But Bear managed to stop him. Gleeson was killed trying to escape.

Bridgett Valvs:
Background:
She was forced to work for Ross Dole (he black mailed her) after he caught her red handed stealing, but would have willingly done his dirty work (for a cut) The first of the baddies Bear was forced to deal with (see Ross Dole) But in the end she ended up like her employer (As in "Fur of Dog, Skin of Human, Heart of Hero")
